Taylor Creek Value Study

The Taylor Creek Value Study team consisted of an expert panel recommended by the Value Study consultant firm and reviewed by SPU, SPR, and Friends of Dead Horse Canyon. The study took place in mid-June. The VS expert panel focused their recommendations on accomplishing the project goals. These included community promoted goals of reducing impact to trees and vegetation as well as SPU’s goals of capturing as much sediment

A value study is a panel of third-party experts chosen by an outside consultant to provide a technical analysis on a developing project. The study typically lasts a week where experts will review the data and design plans, visit the project site, and synthesize information to make recommendations on potential design changes.

as possible in the creek to raise the creek bed, reducing erosion and landslide risk along the steep canyon walls, and restoring habitat for fish and other wildlife.

The recommendations from the VS team are not full design options, but rather concepts that we might explore using in developing new options. SPU brought 16 of these ideas to community members to collect feedback.
